🐾 Smudge Sundays #3: The Great Gate Incident (Also, Treats Were Involved)

Dear readers,

A tale of mild peril and misplaced identity. Gather round.

When in doubt, a cardboard box is safe.

The human came home… but through the back gate.

Now, we all know the Rule:

If I leave by the back door, I must return via the back door. Any other method is dark sorcery.

So naturally, when she opened the gate and called my name, I darted behind the shed. Not because I was scared. Because I was suspicious. Who comes home from that angle? Spies. Possibly foxes.

She offered treats. I cautiously approached. I may have looked sheepish. She gave me a kiss on the head and called me her “silly sausage.” I forgave her.

📚 Later, she read a book outside. I supervised from the shady part of the path and ignored the cushion she lovingly placed for me.

4/5 Outdoor Reads. Lost one star for attempted location betrayal.

Treats were had. All was well.

Yours faithfully,

Smudge (Shed Watch Patrol, Suspicion Dept.)
